Sporting Clays
Sporting Clays is one of the newer of the shotgun sports. Sporting clays is commonly referred to as "shotgun golf" due to the way the sport has a "course" of fields designed to mimic hunting scenarios.

Sporting Clays Stations at the National Shooting Complex
Unlike trap and skeet, sporting clays uses a variety of clay target sizes, densities, and presentations. Clay targets are usually thrown from trap machines that may be hidden from view and present targets in ways unseen in trap and skeet.
The individual stations along a sporting clays course may be configured by the course designer, also known as the "course setter", to simulate a crossing bird, a rising teal, a running rabbit, or a variety of other target paths as desired.
The variety of the targets and presentations make sporting clays arguably one of the most difficult shotgun sports. It is currently also one of the most popular due to the social aspect of travelling with your fellow shooters through the course.
